ITTF Africa Prospects Virtual Table Tennis with Esports Showcase Event in Lagos

In a bold and progressive move inspired by the International Table Tennis Federation’s (ITTF) global Esports vision, ITTF Africa has initiated moves towards creating its Virtual Table Tennis Esports vertical. This is happening with the execution of a 3-day Virtual Table Tennis Showcase at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Surulere, Lagos from August 1 – 3, 2025 on the sidelines of the ongoing ITTF Africa Youth Championships

The event, themed around Training, Demonstration, and Competition, marks a significant milestone in the digital transformation of table tennis on the continent. This initiative is geared towards leveraging immersive technology to grow the sport’s reach among Africa’s youth and tech-savvy communities.

Speaking at the event, Barr. Enitan Oshodi, President of ITTF Africa, remarked:

“Esports is no longer the future—it is the present. By embracing virtual table tennis, we are not only aligning with the ITTF’s innovation agenda but also unlocking new pathways to engage, train, and discover the next generation of table tennis athletes across Africa. This is a pivotal moment for our sport on the continent.”

The event is powered by Mobiele Esports Agency and sponsored by leading electronics brand, LG Nigeria, two key partners committed to advancing tech-enabled sports development in Africa.

Mobiele Esports Agency, a pioneering organization in the African Esports and Virtual Sports immersive tech space, expressed excitement about the partnership through its Co-founder/COO, Ife Akintaju:

“Partnering with ITTF Africa on this showcase aligns perfectly with our mission to drive access to virtual sports and Esports across Africa. Virtual Table Tennis is a compelling gateway into the Esports ecosystem, combining athletic skill with digital excellence. We’re proud to lead this charge and look forward to expanding Virtual Table Tennis leagues, hubs, and tournaments throughout the continent.”

The event features cutting-edge Virtual Reality (VR) gameplay through the Eleven Table Tennis platform, allowing players and fans to experience high-
quality table tennis action in immersive environments. This activation also serves as a foundation for more inclusive and borderless participation in table tennis, especially in regions with limited access to physical infrastructure.
