Africa Steps Forward as FIFAe 2026 Welcomes Over 120 Nations

The FIFAe 2026 season is officially underway, and it marks a historic milestone for global football esports. With over 120 nations confirmed across all titles, more than half of FIFA’s Member Associations are now actively participating in competitive football gaming. Among them, Africa is strongly represented, reinforcing the continent’s growing influence in the FIFAe ecosystem.

For 2026, 115 nations have confirmed participation in eFootball™ Console, 81 in eFootball™ Mobile, and 84 in Rocket League. In total, 28 nations are making their debut this season, and 59 countries will compete across all three titles, highlighting the rapid expansion of structured national team esports.

Africa’s Participation in FIFAe 2026

Africa continues to demonstrate both depth and diversity across the three FIFAe titles.

eFootball™ Console (22 African Nations)

Botswana, Chad, Comoros, DR Congo, Côte d’Ivoire, Egypt, Ghana, Guinea, Kenya, Libya, Madagascar, Mauritius, Morocco, Nigeria, Senegal, Seychelles, Somalia, South Africa, South Sudan, Tanzania, Tunisia, and Zimbabwe.

With 22 nations confirmed, Console remains Africa’s most widely adopted FIFAe title.

eFootball™ Mobile (20 African Nations)

Botswana, Comoros, Côte d’Ivoire, Egypt, Eswatini, Ghana, Kenya, Libya, Madagascar, Mauritius, Morocco, Nigeria, Senegal, Seychelles, Somalia, South Africa, South Sudan, Tanzania, Tunisia, and Zimbabwe.

Mobile continues to be one of Africa’s strongest platforms, reflecting the continent’s mobile-first gaming culture and accessibility.

Rocket League (17 African Nations)

Comoros, Côte d’Ivoire, Egypt, Ghana, Kenya, Libya, Madagascar, Mauritius, Morocco, Nigeria, Senegal, Seychelles, South Africa, South Sudan, Tanzania, Tunisia, and Zimbabwe.

Rocket League participation remains competitive, with North, West, East, and Southern Africa all represented.

A Season of High Stakes

The 2026 season also presents a major challenge for reigning champions. Poland must defend its eFootball™ Console title against 114 rival nations. Thailand faces 80 competitors in Mobile, while France’s Rocket League team battles 83 countries for qualification.

For Africa, this creates an opportunity. With more nations participating than ever before, the continent has a greater chance of converting representation into podium finishes.

How Qualification Works

The FIFAe 2026 season began in February with the FIFAe World Cup 2026™ Challenger Series. Qualification runs throughout the year, starting with the FIFAe Nations League, followed by continental qualifiers where the best teams from each region secure their spots at the FIFAe Finals.

Players can register via FIFA.GG, create their Rocket League or eFootball™ profiles, and link their Konami User ID (for eFootball players) to compete in the Challenger Series.

Africa’s Moment in FIFAe

With 22 nations in Console, 20 in Mobile, and 17 in Rocket League, Africa’s footprint in FIFAe 2026 is significant. Established esports nations like Morocco, Egypt, Senegal, Nigeria, and South Africa are joined by emerging competitors such as Comoros, South Sudan, Seychelles, and Mauritius, signaling broader continental growth.

The new FIFAe season promises electrifying competition across 122 nations. For Africa, 2026 is not just about participation; it is about progression, consistency, and converting opportunity into global recognition.

As more details about the season unfold, one thing is clear: Africa is firmly embedded in the FIFAe 2026 journey.
